Tuesday 24th December – New York

After a hotel breakfast, we were off to the Empire State Building this morning – beautiful clear skies so great views! Very worthwhile- interesting displays and beautiful Art Deco interior.

From the Empire State we all went for coffee, then the boys and girls split up – the boys to the USS Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum, and the girls to the Guggenheim and the Met.

We decided that we loved the Guggenheim building – structure is amazing, and a great way to see art with its circular design (and very different to New York’s grid like structure), but we didn’t really go much on the art ….. i felt that Cate’s Yr 12 Art project would have looked much better in there !!
The Met is HUGE! But we visited the Egyptian section, modern and contemporary art with Degas, Monet, Pissaro …. then there was a special exhibition of amazing Medieval armour (Maximilian I) and our favourite (part from the Degas) , the costume exhibition.

Pretty exhausted by now, but we pushed on, bus-sing it down 5th Avenue for a bit of crazy busy shopping before stumbling back to the hotel, then onto dinner. Xxx
