Tuesday 14th January: Vancouver

After breakfast at the hotel, we headed off for the historic part of Vancouver, Gastown, named after ‘Gassy’ Jack Deighton, a Yorkshire seaman, steamboat captain and barkeep who arrived in 1867 to open the area’s first saloon. (We think Gassy because of his storytelling which was apparently legendary; Nick had his own theories 😀).

It was VERY cold – snowing most of the day. After lunch, we continued to wander and did a bit of shopping again – most enjoyable!!!

We returned back to the hotel … me nervously waiting until 7:02pm so Cate could check her email for the Uni offer! So happy! We had a nice dinner out to celebrate.
